MPC4a

Project Summary

Burrows Graham are providing civil and structural design services for a logistics and distribution campus, which is under construction at the GLP site, Magna Park Corby. The development consists of a steel portal framed warehouse containing a low-bay with three mezzanine levels and three 26m high bay chambers.

The 5 storey office structure, connected to the warehouse by a link bridge, benefits from a glulam timber frame and CLT floors to meet the embodied carbon targets. The stepped foundation solution provides a waterproofed reinforced concrete basement with level access to the warehouse.

Key Engineering Challenges

  • Foundation solution for filled quarry
  • Onerous MHE deflection requirements to floor slabs
  • Multiple mezzanine for MHE equipment
  • Timber framed office
  • Embodied carbon targets (350 kg/CO₂/m² for office, 250 kg/CO₂/m² for warehouse)
