Kimberley – Royston Phase 2

Kimberley Developments

Project Summary

Burrows Graham worked with Glencar Construction at post novation stage to develop the three unit scheme totalling 65,000sqft on a 1.4 hectare site in Royston. The design was developed based on limited previous engineering drawings to a fast programme. Cut & fill was undertaken to optimise the ground solution for traditional foundations and ground bearing slab. Drainage had to be developed in line with the approved FRA, but additional soakway tests were undertaken to reduce tank sizes and to satisfy the planners. The scheme was successful and on the back of this project we have been appointed to assist with developing out the remaining parcels of surrounding land.

Key Engineering Challenges

  • Soakaways in chalk and locating them on a tight
  • Stepped develop given a sloping site.
  • Reduction in construction make up
  • Adjustments of the design to suit revised entrance proposals.
