Project Olympus

Project Olympus

Project Summary

Three data centre buildings and associated substation with an IT capacity of 210MW forming a 1.5 million sqft campus at London Docklands.

The buildings feature 5 storeys of data halls, 2 storeys of ground floor generator plant and 2 storeys of roof gantry plant equipment. The facilities will be both liquid and air-cooled, and are designed to be “AI-ready” from day one.

The structural design comprises a piled building with suspended ground slabs and a steel framed superstructure on a circa 9 x 5.6m grid. The design will be fully coordinated utilising BIM modelling with clash detection to mitigate issue during construction. The site wide services and first building LCY11 are due for completion in 2027 which will be one of the largest data centre facilities in London.

Key Engineering Challenges

  • Construction adjacent to River Thames in Flood Zone 3 with flood defence requirements
  • Complex poor ground conditions with numerous known obstructions
  • Multi storey construction on tight site
  • Integration of M&E requirements
